“尧时十日并出，草木焦枯，尧命羿射十日，中其九日，日中九乌皆死，堕其羽翼，故留其一日也” 这段古籍描述的便是神话“羿射九日”。十日是天帝之子金乌的化身，是会飞翔的太阳神鸟。而历史上有一个大羿一个后羿，真正射日的是大羿而非后羿，但后世习惯于把他们等同于一人。
